I wrote a letter to the reporter who featured the issue with WYJZ because I was \'HOT\' because the smooth jazz format was canceled. Emmis sold the guts of RadioNow WNOU to rival Radio One. Seeing dollar signs, Radio One decided to kill the smooth jazz station WYJZ and stick a revived WNOU in its place. Both Emmis and Radio One made all these changes for money. The broadcasters are betting the revamped stations will help them pull in more ad dollars. This is because the new technologies are fragmenting the market and making advertisers skeptical of radio. It seems the listeners are turning on Web radio stations, using IPod, XM or Sirus. which also means broadcasters have to make decisions about their programming that we may not like. It is all money-driven. Will another Indianapolis radio station change their format and incorporate smooth jazz to welcome displaced fans like myself, who knows I know there are enough of us out there to carry some clout somewhere. I AM A TRUE FAN OF THE JAZZ STATION WYJZ 100.9 AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE OR RATHER HEAR IT BACK ON THE AIR ASAP.
