On 03/02/2007 my son was killed by a BNSF Fedral saftey train in Monmouth, IL. at the crossing on Main Street a street that should have had pedestrian crossing gates. They used to have them up but they took them down because of complications. So instead of fixing the complication they got rid of it. If the pedestrian crossing gate was still there my son would still be alive today. There was no other way that he could have seen the train coming due to a large building on one side with a large bulletin board that blocked all pedestrians views of any oncoming trains from the left or trains that are heading east, it is impossible to see an eastbound train from the sidewalk. The large bulletin was removed about a month after my son died, but the building can still block the view of an oncoming eastbound train. So if you would like to help get the pedestrian crossing gates back up then please sign this petition so that you might be able to help save someone elses life. It's already too late for my son but it could save someone elses child. So for their sake please sign it.
