I'm a 7th grade honers student at West Side Middle School in Elkhart, Indiana. Early in the year I learned that on Halloween we could wear costumes to school (as long as they don't have face paint or masks and follow standard dress code). I've been looking forward to this for months now, and on today's announcements it still said the costume plan was a go for teachers and students. Then, in my 7th hour class, they announced that because a handful of student's grades dropped after fall break, no students or teachers are permitted to wear costumes. This is obviously unfair to many people. Many of my friends are all extremely disappointed, and guess what? They all have A's. Please, West Side student or not, please sign this so the students who are struggling can get a punishment that won't affect such a large group of people who haven't done anything wrong. Thank you.

The administration at West Side Middle School is punishing the entire student body for the academic struggles of a few. It is pathetic that they would rather ruin a tradition for those of us who have worked hard than actually address the students falling behind.

The administration at West Side Middle School is finally feeling the heat because of this movement. They are trying to punish the entire student body for someone else not doing their homework and it is infuriating. Keep the pressure on them until they admit this blanket ban is a total joke.

This is completely unjust to "punish" the entire student body and teaching staff because of poor grades of some.
Taking away this privelage in the last 5 minutes of the day is in very poor taste.
Punishing the masses for the deeds of few is negative against the masses. The individuals who do not follow the rules should face their consequences .
