The President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, said on Thursday [October 12 2017] that the bank had concentrated on the northern region of Nigeria in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s request.

Kim said, “You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we’ve done that…”

Given that:

1) this is incontrovertible proof of unabashed ethno-regional bias of the President of Nigeria who himself comes from Northern Nigeria and subscribes to the ideology of “Northern Nigeria first” (and only), as it pertains to Nigerian affairs;

2) Nigeria’s tangible financial resources depends solely on Oil which comes entirely from Southern Nigeria;

3) Southern Nigeria alone (specifically, the South-south and Southeast bears all the brunt of irreversible environmental damage from Oil operations;

4) Nigeria’s national burden of foreign debt repayment falls disproportionately on Southern Nigeria;

5) the President of the World Bank, Kim, and the Managing Director of International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, acquiesced willingly to what they should have recognized as at least unethical, self-serving, nepotistic and unconscionably divisive directive—and carried it out as such.

Considering that:

A) the same President Buhari of Nigeria has protected the marauding armed cattle herdsmen from Northern Nigeria who routinely terrorize and dispossess Southeastern Nigeria and destroy their farms;

B) President Buhari has ordered Northern-dominated Nigerian Military and Security agents to forcefully occupy Southeastern Nigeria where they are committing heinous crimes against humanity and engaging in genocidal activities against unarmed and peace-abiding Igbo;

C) Northern Youth with the blessing of Northern Nigerian elders issued a leave-Northern Nigeria-or-be destroyed notice and ultimatum to Southeasterners (the Igbo) residing in that region.

The pattern emerges:

1. The only reason Nigeria exists is to protect and develop Northern Nigeria at all costs, at the full expense of Southern Nigeria (just like the British colonialists designed it originally);

2. Elimination of the people of Southeastern Nigeria by all means including obvious genocide and the taking over of their land;

3. World bodies and nations collude with Nigeria or watch in silence

Therefore:

We petition the UN to support, facilitate and conduct a Referendum in Nigeria for Biafrans to affirm their Self Determination rights and stop being massively exploited and used as slaves to sustain Northern Nigeria.

We petition IMF and World Bank to effect the resignation of the officials involved in pandering to Buhari’s exploitative demand.
