The world appears not to care much about what is happening in Northeast Nigeria, with Boko Haram establishing a Caliphate, and daily expanding its area of influence. It is only a matter of time before ISIL and Boko Haram connect, with the Nigeria military unable to defend the country, it will be a matter of weeks before Nigeria is overrun. This is no exaggeration or fear mongering. You may think Northeast Nigeria is far from your backyard. If you do, you are grossly mistaken. Territories will be captured with little resistance once ISIL and Boko Haram link up.
Now is the time to heighten the alert and let the world know that if Nigeria falls, Africa falls. If Africa falls, the world will never be the same again. Therefore join the effort to collect million signatures to petition the U.S. Congress, the White House, and the United Nations, The European Union and the government of Great Britain. The world cannot stand by and watch large chunk of Nigeria fall to Boko Haram increamentally. We need the world to pay more attention to what is happening in Nigeria before we all become victims and casualties of ruthless violence.

No fear mongering but whatever need be done must be concertedly done before the whole country is over run by this monster who have proved to the whole world that they are neither pursuing a northern agenda nor any sane religious one. Time the whole world wake up to this mundane threat to the entity called Nigeria.

My African name is Mariama and I believe that girls have the human right to getting an education, not being victims of human trafficking, getting a decent job and being leaders. I was blind but if any of these girls were my children, I would want them to be safe and happy.
The world does care, but every nation has its own problems to deal with. No nation can love another more than herself. Their leaders can however inspire or compel ours to be alive to their responsibilities. True leadership requires sacrifice. When we can have TRUE leadership at EVERY level of our society, we will overcome not only Boko Haram, but other societal ills.

Though laudable, we Nigerians need to "petition" ourselves to unite, eschew mediocrity, religious and ethnic biases, and force our leadership at all tiers of governance to be accountable to the people. Nobody else can do it for us!
