Hi! I am a high school student and I am seeking to help this cause. Would you be OK with me setting up a website that directs people to this petition?

We are a family of 7, I want to be able to allow my children and I to have fresh healthy eggs in the morning. Please allow Woodstock residents to own their own chickens.

Eggs are expensive and learning to raise hens and to produce eggs is such a positive experience for any family.

We live in Ponds of Bull Valley backing up to the Hooved Animal Humane Society. They have had chickens and roosters in the past. But yet I’m told I can’t have chickens in my fairly large (paid extra) backyard that backs up to the Humane Society. How is that fair???

Just get some hens and build and hen house. Raise a black flag and send a message to the city council.

I think it's important that individuals and communities have a means to provide and be self sufficient for their own families as well as their neighbors. This freedom to self sufficiency should extend to include raising small and inoffensive livestock such as rabbit, quail, and especially chicken. No one is reasonably asking for a full blown hobby farm on their 1/4 acre property, simply the means to provide for themselves and others in a significant way, whether that be for sustenance or companionship. Woodstock residence should have the opportunity to contribute to their community in this way.

Hens should 100% be allowed in the city limits of Woodstock. They are far less of a nuisance than yippie little dogs or dogs protecting their yards. They bring so much good to the lives of the humans that have them and they should be allowed in city limits.

What is the status on having the hens in Woodstock?
