Women's Hockey League under the NHL
In the wake of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, Canadians have breathed a collective sigh of relief. We have successfully defended our gold in both men and women’s hockey. The country was left on the edge of their seats, as both the American and Swedish teams displayed immense poise and talent. It goes without saying that nothing brings a nation together like the thrill of a hockey game and the heroic efforts of players like Crosby and Poulin. As the general population returns to their daily lives, the mens teams will return to their respective NHL teams, and Toronto will welcome back Kessel and James van Riemsdyk as Women’s hockey melts once again into the background.
Inspired by the excellence witnessed in the women’s gold medal game between Canada the USA, we would like to rally our fellow hockey lovers to promote the success of women’s hockey under the NHL franchise. Building from the original 6 NHL Teams, the women of the CWHL (Canadian Women’s Hockey League) and University teams across the nation will finally have the chance to represent their cities at an equitable and professional level. And who among us doesn’t love the idea of being able to watch more professional hockey?!
With your help, we can support women hockey players across the Nation, providing future players with a greater sense of gender diversity and sportsmanship.
*This idea is not affiliated with the NHL. They have not confirmed this project, but with your support we would like to change that!
