We the undersigned are requesting an up to date discussion and review by the Trustees, the School & Parent Governors in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team at Willow Primary School on Halal meal options at lunch times.
We understand the last discussion regarding this matter was over 5 years ago and feel that attitudes have since changed and the matter needs an up to date review.
There are many schools in Slough (and in neighbouring boroughs) with a significantly lower Muslim demographic than Willow Primary School, yet these schools offer Halal meals and are inclusive to religious dietary restrictions.
We feel strongly that Willow Primary should at least consider whether they could offer a Halal meal option on some days perhaps twice a week.
We are also requesting that a "Pasta" option be introduced everyday, or as a substitute for the "Jacket Potato" option as this is a far more popular choice amongst the EYFS and KS1 children. Gluten-Free Pasta would be ideal as an all inclusive option.
Neighbouring Schools (within a 2 mile radius) such as Claycots School (Town Hall Campus) offer a halal main option, a non halal main option, a sandwich of the day, a vegetarian main option as well as a jacket potato option.
We feel it is mandatory that Willow Primary School review their outdated and very limited school lunctime meal options.

I have been reviewing the lunch policies at nearby schools and the disparity between their inclusive menus and our current offerings is clear. Please email the Willow Primary School Governors today to ask for a formal meeting regarding these dietary updates. We need to keep the pressure on our leadership team until they agree to sit down and discuss these changes.

Halal meat is readily available and shouldn't be a problem to source. Also if there is a need then it's in the student's interest to meet that need.
With many muslims kids and muslim teachers /staff the meat should be halal to accommodate their dietary needs
Shocking that this is already not an option and schools do not review this themselves
It's unfair that some children need to eat veg options whilst others enjoy roast chicken or chilli con carne for example. Please provide halal options as all children are children and they need to have their correct proteins
All ks1 children are entitled to a free hot meal at school. Most schools offer halal food and willow should also cater to the Muslim pupils.
Children nutritional meals should be same and equal therefore Muslim children should have access to foods that they can have such as Halal
There are a lot of Muslim children in the school and their needs should be catered for

Completely agree with this petition. My children refuse a school lunch due to very limited option. They also require halal meal which I strongly believe should be introduced in Willow Primary school.
