Provide West Hartford girls a recreational venue to play a game they have grown to love, in the event they do not participate in soccer at their high school.
At age 14, girls that often have been playing soccer recreationally since they were 6, age out of the ability to play at a recreational level simply because a higher division into which they can advance doesn’t exist.
Many girls may not be successful at making their freshman high school team, or if they are successful at the freshman level, may not make it onto junior varsity or varsity.
Other girls may simply choose not to commit to the time consuming schedule of a high school, or travel level team.
In either case, girls would continue to play soccer recreationally through their high school years if given the opportunity.
Please keep rec sports going! My kids love the team experience without the grueling commitment of school sports.

I have played in the WHGSL for junior-senior and this next spring will be my last....although I won't be able to participate in the super senior division...I hope others get the chance to.

This league is needed as a recreational option for girls who want to participate and play the game for fun, and thereby offer a way for girls to stay connected to the game and to each other.
By age 14, girls are dropping out of sports at two times the rate of boys, an alarming statistic.

West Hartford needs a recreational soccer program for girls in this age group ! Itbis the only piece of the amazing recreationsal soccer program that is missing! So much work has been done to build the program to get girls playing very young-that has been invaluable. This new program will ensure they won't just be cut off at 14! I couldn't support this proposal more strongly !

I am in support of the proposal. With 2 girls who love soccer but may not be right for the HS team, it would be a great opportunity.

This is great for our girls. We have so many soccer players in town, not all of them can play for the HS team. This gives them somewhere to play! I fully support this! Basketball should be next!!! Let's keep the girls playing!
