Article on June 16 on gk due to reminders sent by our team people: As police is still clueless about the whereabouts of the medical student of Shri Acharya Chander Medical College here, who went missing a month ago, his family is in a state of hope and despair The mother of Syed Zuhaib Rizvi of Nabdipora Srinagar and final year MBBS student has been running from pillar to post since last one month, looking for actual facts behind the disappearance of her son. As the initial conclusion of the police that he had ‘committed suicide’ by jumping into Mansar Lake is still unconfirmed with investigators failing to retrieve the body, the family is still hoping that Rizvi would return home some day. The family also suspects a foul play behind Rizvi’s disappearance and has been demanding a special inquiry into the case. “On the name of evidence to support the theory of suicide, the police could only find his wallet from the park near the lake”, the aggrieved mother told Greater Kashmir adding that her son was also having a mobile phone, but the police could not find it neither from the lake nor from the parking area. “As all theories by police have proved wrong in absence of any solid evidence, we suspect that our son might have been a victim of conspiracy” said Rizvi’s mother. She was not ready to buy the idea that Rizvi committed suicide in a state of depression. “We were waiting for last one month as people here told us that the body of drowned float in the Lake on its own after 12 to 15 days,” she said, while indicating that the family had waited for over a month now. The family has also made an appeal to the chief minister Omar Abdullah and Director General of Police to help them out by initiating an inquiry in Rizvi’s disappearance. Police on the other hand claimed that it was investigating the matter from all possible angles. “We have not been able to get any lead from any quarter till now”, a police officer said, on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the police had also questioned some of the Rizvi’s class mates, in last few days, but no breakthrough could be made. Sign the petition to keep this search alive.
