When turning a nightmare into change!!
Yesterday (01/18/2017) a family's life was changed dramatically brutally loosing a mother, a grandmother, auntie, sister, girlfriend, and a friend to many. Kasie was working her graveyard shift at a local Loaf & Jug like any typical night when two teens took it upon themselves to rob the store for some beer, she went to stop them when they decided today would be the day they took this woman's life from her family and friends. Two teenage boys 17 and 19 brutally stabbed her and left her for dead in the waking hours of January 18th. Luckily Kasie had her phone on her and was able to call for help, what went from a horrible act of violence to her being brutally murdered.
Everyone who knows Kasie knew how hard working and beautiful she was inside and out, she never walked in a room and didn't have everyone smiling or laughing. If you knew Kasie from a hello or a friendship you knew she was a gift from God, she was here for everyone and was always ready to help even if it meant giving the clothes on her back or the money in her pocket but she always made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. She loved all that life had to offer and wanted to conquer it one day at a time and unfortunately that was taken from her way to soon. As our hearts are heavy and seems like our world is falling apart we know Kasie would want her name to live on and MAKE A CHANGE so this doesn't happen to anyone else's family. We will be finding and fighting for ways to stand up and change store policies to prevent situations like this from happening in the future. If you think there should be more done to help keep our working people safe all hours of the day and most importantly graveyard shifts please sign this as the first step into making awareness so we can all come together and make a CHANGE! The weight of the last few days has been crushing but seeing this momentum grow gives me a sliver of hope that we are being heard. I am exhausted by the depth of this tragedy yet I promise to keep pushing forward until the people responsible are held fully accountable.

There are not enough words that can explain how horrified this makes me feel. Let something good come from this senseless act of violence.
I think that ALL gas stations should ALWAYS have 2 or more people working at all times. They should also have security there as well. Alcohol should be sold in liquor stores only.
Sad to see things like this happen need 2 two people for the over night shift and get rid of the alcohol.
The third shift is by far the worst shift for anyone to work with no added security especially!

This was a senseless crime by a child.... Our youth is becoming desensitized to crime. We need to make sure in these situations there is always at least two people working together in a store. I don't know why this is not already a policy... This is so tragic and my heart goes out to Kasie's family. Keep your head up Tanaiya, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
