This petition is to the Whakatane District Council to reduce or waive the Water Rates for the term affected by the tidal surges which have contaminated Whakatane\'s town water supply with salt. Rate payers have had to pay for bottled drinking water since the 9th April 2008 due to town supply becoming contaminated with salt water. This problem is still ongoing today. We feel that we should not have to pay in full for a service that has not been provided to agreed standards. We have had to buy drinking water due to our suppliers failing us.
