Western Avenue in Roanoke, Indiana has sewer line issues. For 18 years the residents have dealt with back ups and having to watch for the town's sewer lines to get clogged and call the town to have clean outs performed. WE ARE TIRED OF IT!!! For 18 years we have been told "You are on the list" or "You are next" only to be passed over for their other projects. NOW the town received a grant for the sidewalks and streets. Western Avenue is getting a new sidewalk and resurfacing of the street. BY THE WAY, WE STILL HAVE SEWER BACK UP ISSUES and have had twice this week alone. We asked them to fix the problem BEFORE they resurface our street because they will need to dig it all back up again and the next resurfacing will have to be paid by the town, not the grant they received. They have said they can't reschedule it. Follow me here?? They are wasting money by not delaying the resurfacing and addressing the sewer problem. Please help the residents of Western Avenue get a new sewer line that is the correct size and isn't falling apart BEFORE we get our street resurfaced. I have spent the last few days pulling together our records of the past eighteen years of sewer backups to present to the council. It is incredibly frustrating to see them prepare for street work that will inevitably have to be torn up when the pipes fail again. We are not giving up on this because our homes deserve a permanent fix rather than another temporary patch.

Seeing the flood of support from our neighbors gives me hope that the town council might finally listen to our pleas. Watching this gain traction feels like we are finally being heard after eighteen years of being ignored.

So many times have seen sidewalks and new roads torn up for new sewer and water lines. Time to be proactive instead of reactive!
Please fix this problem. It’s a small area & if you are going to redo the road it would be smarter to do the sewer and water lines first! Do it right & solve the problem. You know it’s an issue! It’s been on the list 18 years and you haven’t done anything to solve it the correct way? Please help my friends!
It makes since to do it now before anything else happens and it costs more money to fix it later!

This is more important than putting in sidewalks allover town. Be smart about how you spend our money!
