We, the residents of South Lake, are petitioning for the introduction of a Wegmans grocery store in our community instead of the proposed Giant. We believe that a Wegmans store will significantly enhance our shopping experience due to its high-quality products, extensive organic offerings, and exceptional customer service.
We recognize that a Giant is a part of the original plan for South Lake, however we feel that Wegmans will offer a broader selection of fresh produce, specialty foods, and community-focused services that will lack with the proposed Giant. Wegmans is known for its commitment to local communities, including offering cooking classes, health and wellness programs, and community event sponsorships which we find greatly beneficial for South Lake.
Our request is supported by the following reasons:
1. Improved Quality and Variety: Wegmans offers an impressive range of gourmet and international foods that surpasses what is currently available at the Giant’s already in the area.
2. Community Engagement: Wegmans has a strong track record of community involvement that can bring people together and create a vibrant shopping environment.
3. Sustainability Initiatives: Wegmans is committed to sustainability, with robust recycling programs and initiatives to reduce plastic usage, aligning with our community’s values on environmental responsibility.
4. Giant Saturation: Giant currently has eleven stores within a ten mile radius of South Lake
By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for bringing a Wegman’s store to South Lake instead of a Giant, which we believe will not only improve our grocery shopping experience but also enhance the overall quality of life in our community. We aim to present this petition to our city council and local planning commission to demonstrate the strong community demand for Wegmans in South Lake.

South Lake in Bowie, Md needs a Wegmans or Whole Food Grocery Store. Not another Giant
As a resident of Prince George’s county I want the right to access high quality goods within my own community. As consumers we deserve retail choices. I choose Wegman’s over Giant.
I’d love a Wegman’s in this community. However, I hope that if this is approved that the Giant in Collington Plaza remains. We still need a grocery store that is not as pricey as Wegman’s yet still offers decent quality.
I feel that a Wegmans would be a much better option over Giant. Wegmans have fresher produce, a larger variety of prepped food ( which would benefit residents that work long hours).
Please change decision from Giant to Wegmans. As there are multiple giants within 5 miles of our community. Thank you.
Please bring more grocery choose to PG East of Enterprise Road

PG communities need more robust food options! Any grocer is appreciated, but wegmans does tend to emphasize variety.
