Call Your Mother Deli recently decided to open a new location in the heart of Georgetown. While the deli was originally slated to open on the corner of 35th and O St. in late October, its opening has been delayed due to complaints from members of the residential Georgetown community. If these opponents are successful, it may be prevented from ever opening. Their claim? Call Your Mother Deli will clog the sidewalks with long lines of customers, disrupt traffic with food delivery trucks, generate large amounts of trash, and cause excessive noise. However, founder Andrew Dana has gone to great lengths to ensure that Call Your Mother will be a good neighbor. It will work with the town to guarantee efficient food delivery, line management, trash disposal, and noise control.

From a student’s perspective, we lack fresh, affordable food options in our neighborhood. Most of us do not have the time to walk down to M Street and spend obscene sums of money on the restaurants there. We want fast, high-quality food from a deli that provides unrivaled customer service. We already love Call Your Mother’s stand at the Farmers' Market every Wednesday, and we want their store to open! We are stakeholders in the neighborhood, and we want our voices to be heard!

Please sign below if you think Call Your Mother Deli should be allowed to open its new location on the corner of 35th and O St!
