This petition is a gesture of appreciation and support for Shelley Johnson and her husband Kent. Shelley and Kent have made an immense impact on the students of DeKalb High School for the last 34 years as directors of the show choirs, the choir department and the theater program. Their devotion, their passion, and their enthusiasm for music education has echoed far beyond the halls of DeKalb. They are extraordinary role models for young people and have inspired hundreds (if not thousands) of former students to pursue their goals in all variety of professional fields with confidence, eloquence, and pride. Because of Shelley and Kent's influence, DeKalb choir alumni are well prepared to be creative problem-solvers, team players, and loving community members. If Shelley and Kent made an impact on your life, please sign this petition as an expression of your gratitude, support, and love. We, the undersigned, recognize the immeasurable good that Shelley and Kent have done for DeKalb students, and the Auburn/DeKalb community as a whole, for the past three decades. We are forever thankful for their influence on our lives.
