No connection with the Johnsons but as a Theatre parent and mom of a daughter who went on to earn her BA in Theatre, I support you 100%. Theatre students are different and deserved to be loved and nurtured like the students speak about The Johnson’s caring for them. If there was a problem with their teaching style, evidence would manifest such as students lack of cooperation, no winning trophies at competition and students dropping out of the program. Since that didn’t happen then the people must lie with current administration.

This is not just a injustice to Kent & Shelly. It’s a horrendous injustice to the upcoming kids of the school system.

My kids are so looking forward to learning from them! Make sure your "insecurities" aren't why you think she needs to be re-home. They have never done anything to affect anyone like y'all are saying. "Life IS LIFE & it's gonna happen" with or without.

I couldn't say it any better than what is already stated in the petition.

I don’t know where things went wrong. I don’t know both sides. But, what I do know is that in my whole 49 years of existence I have never seen two more dedicated individuals to children. Thank you Shelly and Kent for all you have given to these kids and the community.

Although I do not know Shelley and Kent personally since I am from Omaha, NE, I do understand the impact instructors in the arts can have on their students. I have been following this story via my friend Jama Smith, who's son and daughters have been very disappointed in the turn of events with Shelley and Kent, as have so many other students and families. I truly hope you will reconsider your position on this as it will impact so many.

I am 100% behind these two! No doubt about it. Their commitment and spirit is WHY this community is standing firmly behind them!!!

Support from across the miles. I have seen many a student succeed in their post high school life thanks to this successful program.

To remove an amazing teacher a role model like this is wrong. Any accusations of not following rules and policies is unfounded and I hope the board truly looks at how this affects the students and our community because that is who this is really about!

We were so excited to have grandchildren entering high school at DeKalb, knowing that they would be enhanced by the opportunity of enjoying Kent and Shelly Johnson as educators. What a shame to lose these community treasures! We are so disappointed and sorry!

Was not in Classic Connection, just in a competing choir, but my show choir years would not have been the same had my group not competed against Dekalb and had I not seen the amazing shows Shelley directed. Hoping they make the right decision and continue her work with the group for years to come.
