We oppose the bus lanes on Caerphilly Road

These trees are essential to the area, to soak up the carbon dioxide, to absorb the rain water and aesthetically they provide much needed natural beauty in an urban environment. On the otherhand a bus lane which allows the buses to pass traffic for a short distance before rejoining the busy flow has no real use and would be a waste of money which could be used on more important things.

reduce traffic by making busses more affordable for all, also think of how much water the trees and verges are soaking up, how much will increasing drain capacity to deal with run off and avoid flooding of lower lying areas cost.

people don't use buses because they are far too expensive...not because of traffic - subsidise bus fares instead of wasting money on cutting down beautiful trees

There's far too much priority given to traffic on Cardiff's roads at the expense of residents and cyclists (and trees). Reduce the amount of traffic, not the number of trees.

Ridiculous idea

Absolutely ridiculous pulling trees down - also inconsiderate to residents having traffic closer to house. Unsafe for pedestrians and will increase parking problems already bad in the area. Buses been running for years what is the problem? Complete and utter waste of money when the council constantly bangs on how tight money is

Other councils throughout the UK have realised the error of their ways and have decided to actually remove bus lanes put in over the last few years.

NO NO TO BUS LANE

This is short sighted. This short bus lane will make little difference to fluidity of traffic and instead we destroy one of our few remaining tree-lined avenues into the city.

Another complete waste of money, just like the one on Manor Way near the Golf course, Unless Cardiff City Council have figures to back up how many seconds they save on their bus journeys.

Is this really necessary?

There is no reason other than the council have money to burn to make this change.

I live on Caerphilly Road. What a disappointing state of affairs that we would cut down wonderful old trees (and then bizarrely replant new ones) as well as seriously affecting residents parking options just so a few buses can travel the 500m (maximum) along Caerphilly Road in the morning and evening rush hour only to get snarled up in the tapering lanes at the Birchgrove traffic lights at one end or Llanishen Village environs and Thornhill the other end. It does not seem to make any sense either ethically nor financially. Please reconsider and put the money to better use where it can have a true benefit.

Waste of time and money to build this pointless bus lane

This proposed, short term fix, ecologically wasteful and, in the end, vandalistic "solution" is lazy. You are better than this CCC. You have such a well-established road network; please think again about different means of managing traffic flow.

This road is difficult enough at busy times without adding a bus lane to make it worse

The leaves from these trees have been protecting us from poisonous particles in the air due to traffic fumes etc. Why does the Council have to destroy things and waste money in this way.

A waste of money which will provide no benefit to anyone and will cause additional problems to residents and pedestrians.

Leave the trees alone. What you propose will do nothing to help any of the traffic congestion along Caerphilly Rd, try fixing some of the roads in the area with the money saved.
