Our community has been informed that HEB is proposing to build a JoeV's Smart Shop at the corner of W. Fuqua and Beltway 8.

Twelve (12) years ago, an HEB representative visited the community and said that an HEB grocery store would be built on this site.

However, no HEB representative visited regarding the change of decision from an HEB to a Joe V's. We deserve the same as other communities: a full service grocery store.

Seeing this kind of traction is exhausting yet deeply necessary because it confirms we are not imagining the broken promises. I am tired of fighting for the basic dignity of a full store but your response proves we are not alone in demanding accountability.

We need a flagship type store in our area. We are having to drive to Kroger, Randle's and other HEB locations to shop at the better stores.

I am shocked, appalled and dismayed that you would think we would want a Joe V's in our neighborhood. I have worked hard and continue to work hard to maintain the property value in my area and this would be a slap in the face and a setback. I am sure most of your execitives do not have a Joe V's in their immediate area!

I live in the community, and I do not want a Joe V's because it is not a full -service grocery store. I feel a community, we deserve better. We should not be stigmatized by a store that only serves a certain population of a community without seving the whole community..

This is ridiculous. Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a nice place to shop and a nice selection of healthy food.

I will no longer be shopping at HEB if this type of establishment exist on my community. This is not what we need or want.

Why? HEB feel that the black community does not deserve a HEB. Joe V's Smart Shop is not a store I would shop on daily, but I notice a ad in the Houston Defender Black Newspaper ( Go figure ). The HEB pantry on Scott Street needs to be closed a remodeling also. This is Economics Racist across the board. The community deserved fresh produces and other services just like in the West University, Montrose, Sugarland, Pearland and Katy too.

Shame, shame, shame, HEB. I'ts not nice to treat people in this manner. This is a diverse ethnic community and a full-service store would better meet it's needs. If not HEB, maybe Kroger. Just saying.
