To David Dillon, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Kroger;
We, the residents of Provo, Utah, respectfully remind you of the claim you made in your 2013 Sustainability Report -- "We listen as our customers tell us what is important to them in our communities."
Our community needs a grocery store at the corner of Geneva Road and Center Street, on the property that Smith's bought over a decade ago. We understand that your criteria for building may not have been met yet, but there is a huge potential for growth in landlocked west Provo, and seeing that there is a current and growing need for your services in our community, we are confident that we will soon meet your guidelines for construction of a new store.
Please reconsider your potential for success in west Provo; we hope that you will build us a neighborhood market as soon as possible.
This area needs a neighborhood grocery store now. A bigger complex is probably not viable now but a grocery store is a great way to get customers used to shopping there if the neighborhood wants other retail opportunities added later. I really hate to see that empty lot there.
