We do not agree with a car park on our community field, next to Langney Primary School

The children's parents of Langley Primary School Chailey Close off of Etchingham Road Langley are wanting to turn part of the the recreation ground next to Langney Primary School into the car park. This petition is against this to happen.
We believe as a community if the recreation ground was to turn into a car park.
it will bring anti social behaviour as children from the estate wont have nowhere to play.
it will be more unsafe for children who walk to school as the more build up in cars the more car accidents can happen.
It has not been long that there is now parking attendants to stop cars parking on yellow lines and parking on unsafe areas.
There is build up of cars from parents who live just around the corner.
Many Bishop Bell children walk across the grounds to and from school.
People use the grounds for play, picnics and dog walks.
Those children walking to and from school is a good way to keep fit where as having a car park will encourage less walking for children.
and its taking away dog walking facilities for elderly people who live in the area who cant walk far.
I have heard from many residents that have lived on this estate for many years that when there was a priory here that the field belonged to the priory and when the priory sold it to Eastbourne council there was an agreement made that the field stayed how its is for the residents of this estate and that was agreed so if the council turn there backs on that agreement then they are wiping their hands of the people of the community.
I feel that it should stay how it is but its not upto me as its everyones decision at the end of the day and so please dont shoot the messenger im just doing what i think is right
at the end of the day these parents are being lazy.
Parents who even park up safely in Etchingham road sit in there cars waiting for there children to come to them. which clearly shows they wont even get out the car for that extra 10 yards.
This field is being used. it wont be fair to take it away.

I am currently gathering the original agreement documents regarding this land to present to the council. Post this link on your Facebook pages today to keep the pressure on them. Call your local representative and demand they protect our green space from becoming a parking lot.

The momentum behind this campaign shows that our community will not let the council turn our field into a car park. This green open space could be used for so much more if the Community were given the chance, a bigger Park for the hundreds of children in the area....not a Concrete slab to put cars on for convenience....and this wont stop Dog Poo or Needles in the area........
There are a lot of parking issues around the school, and of recent a couple of near misses where cars and children have nearly come together, which would have resulted in catastrophic results. The field is not the answer to parking problems. I have seen many drivers dropping their children and their cars are left in some awkward places, forcing other drivers to be erratic in their own driving. Placing a carpark on part of the field will only compound that problem, more cars being parked close to the school, more vehicles moving around small children. I have to drive, we live a town away, but I never use etchingham rd or chailey close. I feel it is too dangerous. We park and walk. It has always amazed me that others do not do the same.
I tink if they take away the field kids wont go out they will daty at home and play there consols
I do not agree to a car park being put so close to a school. And the children in shinewater don`t have many places to go
Waste of space for cars they are fine now they can carry on like that I know many people that play there and it will ruin the sight for people to look out the windows . I live by the field and it should not be there as it will stop kids walking to school
A poorly worded petition but a sentiment I fully support. Green spaces must not make way for laziness. I have never had a problem parking a distance away from the school and walking down.
So Heidi from Bexhill and Darren from London...Either of you travel to the grass for picnics?? Never read such stupid reasons in all my life!! Parents being lazy? More likely parents driving to work after school run and thats why they drive..Unbelieveable codswallop

I agree with the comments made. This is a precious open space with a historic agreement to keep this for the benefit of the local community. Better to organise school walking 'crocodiles' to encourage child fitness and decrease the levels of traffic around schools at peak times with the attendant dangers.
