We, the undersigned, are openly petitioning all members of the sports media to STOP referring to the Michigan State Spartans as "Sparty." It isn't cute or clever or funny, and most of the alums and students at Michigan State University hate it--with a passion. "Sparty" should only be used in reference to the mascot in costume on the sidelines. Example: Correct: "Sparty is really getting the crowd fired up!" Incorrect: "And Sparty goes on a 12-2 run to take the lead!" We ask that you please respect the need for accuracy in this situation. It will be much appreciated.
