POC is a name that, as of late, has become popular here in America and we don't like it; we were born in America and are heirs to this land. In times past, we fought to remove the label of "Colored People", only to be renamed People of Color.

African-American is another label that does not reflect who we are; many people in the Black Community have never been to Africa. Most of us were born in America, as were our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were.

This is unacceptable, as these labels have done nothing more than further divide us, as a nation. The amount of melanin in our skin does not define our culture; we are all Americans, ONE nation under God, with liberty and justice for ALL.

I have been reading your comments and seeing so many people who share my frustration with being categorized by these reductive labels. My own ancestors worked too hard for this country to be pushed into a box that ignores our true heritage. We are not just a collection of demographics because we are Americans first and always.

Seeing this conversation take off confirms that so many of you feel the exact same frustration regarding these labels. It is incredibly moving to realize that I am not alone in my desire to be recognized simply for who I am.

Stop trying to divide us by skin tone. It is wrong and it needs to stop NOW.

AMEN! God made us all one people. Tired of the hyphenated titles it just keeps us fighting each other instead of moving forward as patriots.

I am a content White Australian Conservative. I have compassionately stretched my all out for black people as I love the essence they convey metaphysically through song and dance; they invoke a thoughtform which the true white man celebrates and embraces... seeing black Westerners be given the wherewithal to celebrate their variation with our as a championed commonality uplifts them from the lie that says Constitutional Value is their public enemy number 1 and hypocrisy is only the reapings of every white, Asian, Jewish and Mediterranean peoples from the black man. Being reminded of where you came from as a means of causing such stigma only leads to oppression; we don't hear white folks being called European American or European Australian yet we hear African American or Afrocanadian thrown around continuously. Black ppl have great identifiable Americans of their persuasion such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Tupac Shakur, Candace Owens, Thomas Sowell and Deneen Borelli, etc. Celebrate them as Americans, not African peoples.
