It's clear that I CAN'T stand the position of many who see me only thru "black" or "white" eyes, in this colorful world why must we as humans dull our own abilities to see equality equally to that of a dog or a cow? Why must we over think the lady who's shade is anything darker than a 'hint of pink.' Oh it's my favorite color but probably not why you think...see everyday I look in the mirror and admire me, my four little girls-their hues are all Brown but yet so differently, still beautiful, indeed! And that's hard for you not to see. In a classroom why is it that Kadaya stands out from Tatyanna and Jessika, I'm not Russian ya! Role Call, you forgot José and Consuela, they sit with over there.. with Nala-syn, and she's not Mexican! Still yet in the hall there's Kariah and Jamal...talking & laughing, they must be skipping class or so you assume as you look down to their shoes, Jordan's and Griffys in colorful hues. oh look at the baby she has some too...I're, well her name is Jamaican, perhaps her dad is too. Italian, Chinene, Peruvian or Blue...none of these children belong to you. Look beyond what you see and learn who they are, what if we judged you by the look of your car. The way you wear your hair, you must have only completed history class so far. Slaves and wars and wars and slaves that was all before our days. It's 2014 let's change our ways, and our thinking...I vow, You Vow- together we'll Link In...descrimination has flooded the minds of those who can no longer hide their hatred for differences, stand for a change and support replacing those who don't in our communities who are in positions to make great differences in the minds of some of our most valued possessions...our children! Istand A Coloful Change, will you stand one with me?

September 2, 2014

Seeing so many of you connect with the story of my four girls and the children in our classrooms feels like a heavy weight lifting off my chest. This momentum proves that I am not the only one tired of people being reduced to stereotypes instead of being seen for who they are. Your support gives me hope that we are finally ready to look past the surface and truly start seeing each other.

Exactly!! People act like they live in the past. My kids have friends of every color and they dont even notice it. Why do adults have to make it so complicated?

the stereotyping is so old. tired of people assuming things just because of how someone looks or what they wear. keep speaking the truth.

YES. Preach it. So sick of the judgement.
