Keep the parkway just the way it is

The bridges were officially dedicated July 15,1935 by governor Herbert Lehman , Jesse jones chairmen of the R.F.C. Spoke briefly as did Robert Moses, Commissioner of the State Council of Parts and Colonel Frederick S Greene, State superintendent of public works.
The bridges have been a financial success.
Thousands of motorists have used them as a short cut to Niagara Falls.
Other thousands have used them to reach Beaver Island State park.
There is no more beautiful drive in the Buffalo area than the West River Parkway, due to be completed this centennial year.
This person that wrote this back then was absolutely correct .
Because of the Bridges many people can enjoy the beauties of the Island.
The West River Parkway is part of our Beautiful Island .
Everyday many people use this Parkway.
In 1952 The state purchased Buckhorn Island (the Buckhorn is a tree) and some adjoining land to create Buckhorn Island Park also The State had secured the riparian rights to most of the area along West River connecting the two state parks. The West River Residents that lived there lost there land to NYS .
NYS took the land From Them , moved the houses back to where they are today.
In 1952 the population was 4,500
In 2009 members of the Grand Island home owners Association celebrate the 25 years with adopt a highway program.
This association was the first to adopt a highway in NYS with eight miles and is the longest.
Over the years countless Men and Women have worked so hard to keep this Parkway looking so beautiful and Grand.
In 2010 the population had grown on Grand Island
2014 the population grew to 20,324 and rated #2 the best places to live .
2015 the population grew again 20,580
All this because people know what we have here
They come for many reasons
But to everyone I talk to its because they like
The area , simple life, not congested, most roads are not to busy
You and your family can simply walk out your door and hop on you bike and ride .

Re routing traffic from the parkway to the service road is dangerous. Too much traffic !

I've lived on West River Road for 14 years of my life and closing the parkway and making these changes will have a great negative impact on everyone that lives along this street. This will increase the number of cars and in turn, increase the already large number of cars speeding down our road. Please keep West River and its parkway the way it is.

This is not about a bike path. We have a Bike Path on West River Rd. Right now. (The best and safest part of biking around Grand Island). Our supervisor must have a different agenda. Closing West River parkway will change Grand Island landscape for ever.

Maintenance of a bike path will be too expensive. Roads and bike paths are in poor condition as it is on Grand Island. Perhaps budgeting the funds to East River Road repairs of Beaver Island bike path repairs would be a wiser decision.

Closing the parkway will only bring the speeding cars closer to where our children play. An accident waiting to happen. Sad - for a bike path? Seriously?
