Keep the parkway open!! We have Beaver Island, Buckhorn and a bike path already. Fix what we have. Closure is not progress. it is a step back.

1. The service road is not designed to handle the extra traffic if the parkway is closed. 2. I believe it would raise safety issues for WR homeowners to have increased traffic flow on the service road. 3. With that, would come a decreased quality of life for the homeowners. 4. A bikepath would be great -- but who's going to maintain it? The state rarely even cuts the grass! The area looks nice because the homeowners care for it. 5. Closing the parkway would cause more harm than good, overall.

I agree that the option to not close the parkway and instead use the budget to complete bike path plans already in the Master Plan drafted 10 years ago and still to be voted into regulations. If there is funding to have a bike path, then it should be a bike lane on the existing service road. Livable communities increasingly is based on ability for access be available to walking, biking and wheelchair access to communities core services. There is a better plan. It is not just the scenic aspect of the road, functionallu it supports approximately 400,000 cars annually as they travel to work at the facilities on Staley road. We do not want all of this traffic diverted to the service rd. The service road was not built to support this kind of traffic and as far as I know GI has no plan upkeep West Riber Rd, where maintainance would surely have to come from taxes or a bond. In addition we have yet to see a plan from NYS on the proposed mainatinance of the proposed closure of the Parkway as a vike path. NYS has not maintained the parkway median, the residents are the stewards. I think that building a path for bikes and pedestrians makes sense. Use the money from the Greenway commission to do this or do nothing and have the bikes ride on West River Rd, like they already do. DO NOT close the parkway!

100% against closing the beautiful parkway. If anything, just widen the service road to add a safe bike lane. The idea of closing this beautiful and scenic parkway truly sickens me and my family. Do NOT close our parkway!!!

The service Road with a 30mph limit has nice wide shoulders for bikers. I don't understand why that doesn't work.

As a former resident of Grand Island(1952-1974) I DO NOT wish to see the West River Parkway closed.
Bikers can use the service road (I did) or add a bike lane to the service road.

Leave the parkway the way it is and always has been. Maybe it's time for the state to give the property to the residents of Grand Island if they can't handle it anymore.
