The council finally reversed their position and confirmed the funding for the skid pan today. I am exhausted but relieved that we forced them to see the value in this space. Keep watching the site because the real work of building this arena begins now.

We the below signed would support a Skid Pan and Drift Arena within the Wide Bay Motor Complex via participation as a competitor or spectator. We urge the Fraser Coast Regional Council, State and Federal Governments to strongly consider providing financial assistance towards it's construction
Your support for this petition will enable us to apply for funding towards this key component which will in time integrate to form part of the drag racing facility (The skid pan will double as a sealed pit area for the drag strip).

Seeing this level of support for the skid pan is heavy because it shows how many people are tired of losing our local car culture. The work to get this facility built remains long and difficult but this movement behind me makes the exhaustion feel worth it.

It would benefit the fraser coast area significantly, not just for motorsport community but for local businesses. The Fraser coast needs an attraction for it to thrive, and I personally think this is the best place in the Qld to have such facility. "Build it and they will come".
What better way to keep burnouts off the streets and away from neighbourhoods then a skid pan? Hervey hay and surrounds used to once be for senior and newly weds, but being a reasonably cheap place to live a lot of p platers and youths are moving in.
I need this! Whenever I need to test my car or participate in an event I have to trailer all the way to Brisbane. Would be nice to have some where closer I could use. I am all for this!
If everyone wants to keep "hooning" off the streets, there needs to be places like this for people to go. Additionally, learning to drive like this, greatly improves peoples driving skills and reactions, which my well save them from an accident or save a life while driving on the road when a bad situation occurs.
This area needs an economy booster such as this, as well as the drag strip. Jobs will be created when it's built, and after within the automotive industry in the surrounding areas for years to come. Think of the income a series of drag racing events held between this site, Willowbank and Benaraby could generate!

Our region needs this. The youth have nothing to live for or aspire to, let the region kickstart there ambition with racing role models, a track to practice and spend their money on instead of drugs. The injection of money from future events will revive our town, inspire more to be more. I know because i came from western sydney, we had access to these events. I build cars for a living and can tell you since moving here my motivation has dropped as i need to travel 3 hours one way just to have a play on a track so i dont.

I strongly believe that this is really needed in the Wide Bay Region. My Daughter and Son in Law are part of a Group of Professional Skidders in Ipswich, and have often commented that a Properly Run Skid Complex is badly needed up here. Their Motto is : "Keeping it off the Streets".
