We submit this petition to express our full support for the traffic improvement projects planned for Waterside and the South End. The various components of the project shown on the attached "concept plan" are designed to work together, including the widening of Pulaski Street and Washington Boulevard at their intersection. These projects have been needed for decades to address the chronic traffic problems in Waterside and the South End. To this end we support approval of item LU30.040 “approval of public hearing initiating the process of the acquisition by negotiation or eminent domain of rights of way for the Washington Blvd and Pulaski Street widening project”.

Updates

The traffic congestion at the intersection of Pulaski and Washington is a daily hazard that we can no longer ignore. Call your city representatives today to demand they move forward with item LU30.040. Post this link on your Facebook page so the rest of the neighborhood knows exactly what is at stake.

Reaching this level of support confirms that our neighborhood is fed up with the current gridlock. Now we must turn this energy into action by emailing your city representative today to demand they vote yes on item LU30.040. Post this link to your neighborhood Facebook group so we keep the pressure on our local officials.

Take the only remaining logical choice our community has for this issue: use Eminent Domain. Let's not let one property destroy the entire traffic mitigation project; and let's not submit to the homeowner’s outrageous demands which are akin to extorting all of us

Traffic on Southfield going toward downtown/the train station/I-95 on any afternoon is backed up from the lights at Greenwich St. and won't be cured unless this entire plan is implemented. Please move on acquisition of the property holding up the plan.

I fully support the traffic improvement projects planned for Waterside and the South End. As a local realtor living and servicing the Waterside area, the traffic issue has become problematic for myself personally and perspective buyers considering the Waterside area. Please proceed with the project.

Waste of money. Widening the roads that lead to the narrow 2-lane bridge at Pulaski St & 2-lane underpass at Metro North/Greenwich Ave ..is not going to improve traffic flow. The 2 lane bridge & underpass will continue to bottleneck traffic, same as they do now

Please approve traffic improvements. I have owned a condominium on Southfield Avenue for 12 years and due to all the new multifamily "rental" housing - the quality of life has diminshed due to the traffic congestion. It takes us 30 minutes to get to downtown Stamford. A firetruck or ambulance would never get through in case of emergency.

It is critical that the city follow through on planned traffic enhancements that match the amount of traffic created by new construction the city has approved... you can't do one without the other. Please do your jobs and get this figured out!

Once workers in Waterside return to work, the serious bottleneck will resume. It is past time to use Eminent Domain to resolve this unconscionable mess in Waterside. Many thanks.

As our elected representatives I expect you to get this done without any further delays. Excellent example of where eminent domain needs to be used.
