This happens in my residential street as well, in Paradise. What will it take to lower the speed limits? I child's death is what! This case was too close of a call, stand up Gov NL and do the right thing.

I’m not a resident of St. John’s but I think this is still a very important petition to sign.

I grew up in Southlands, on Treetop Drive. I find it extra horrifying that a little boy was struck by a car in an area where my siblings and I, walked and played as children ourselves. It is a residential area, not a highway. Slow down.

This should be done in every community. I live in Summerford, out in central. The cars and trucks fly pass my home, even some school buses. Heartbreaking to see this little boy in the hospital!! Hope something is done. All the best to the little boy and his family.

Install speed bumps. It's worked on my street.

I know that kids run like they would, but speed limits in an area like that should be 20 -30 no more then that... How hard would it be put a speed limit sign up and lower the speed limit... Don't take a genius and not that hard to do... Good thing this little boy wasn't seriously injury more than he was or even worst... I support this petition.. Things need to be done... Before another incident happens. God bless this little boy and I pray for a speedy recovery. Prayers with you and your family.

I think all residential areas should have a speed limit of 30. We also live in Southlands and the cars are going way too fast on these streets where there are children playing.

PLEASE! Lower the speed limit! Children should never have to fear being run over! Drivers should know better! Unfortunately it always takes a drastic accident in order for something broken to change!

They should lower school zones to 30 km as this is how it is in Alberta where I am originally from

People are driving too fast always, and more often than not on a cell phone. Despicable!

This issue needs to be rectified before someone is killed!

So sad for it to take such a horrible incident to happen to get people's attention and to address this issue. Should never be when it's so easily corrected. My thoughts are with the family.

The city of St. John's should be ashamed to even request something as foolish as a petition when it comes to the safety of our children!
