I have a son the exact same age, I hear the cars speeding up my street and I shutter to think what could happen in a blink of an eye. I've had yelling matches with people who live in the area telling them to slow down and have been told to F off and so on. These same people will be begging forgiveness some day after they seriously hurt or kill a child. I personally hate speed bumps but understand the reason behind them and support what they are attempting to do. Electronic signs will do nothing. It's time for harsher punishments for things like this so people get the message. It's not ok to do it in this neighborhood or my neighborhood or ANY neighborhood. Our children have the right to be children and to safely cross the street, walk along the sidewalks and play without the fear of some idiot speeding pass them or texting and speeding past time. I'm praying for a speedy recovery for this little guy!

It's ridiculous that you even need a petition to do this. Our lives are so much more important. People need to learn to slow down and watch what they're doing!

Speed bumps are better than digital speed signs . If you hit a speed bump at more than 30, you can do extensive damage to your vehicle. I would petition for speed bumps. There are speed bumps all along south side road as well as old topsail road?? Neither Not are areas with high numbers of small children. If they can have them why can't other areas with heavier traffic and residents.

I do not live in the area but more has to be done about speeding in residential areas.
