Thousands of teens suffer from mental illnesses each year, most go untreated and unacknowledged. We would like to start a school club to help and support teens at our school, and to let them know they are not alone.

Seeing one hundred people put their names on this list feels heavy in the best way. Getting the administration to listen is going to be a long fight but knowing I have this many people behind me helps.

The emails I keep receiving about the administration delaying our club approval have been draining, but I refuse to let this stall out now. We are creeping toward our goal of two hundred fifty signatures and we need to push just a little bit harder to keep the momentum moving.

Our young people need all the help they can get in this troubled world. So many pressures on our kids today. I commend these students for the time and efforts they are putting forth to help others. And I pray they will accomplish their goals. If it saves even 1 life, it will be well worth the effort. Thank you all for your love and concern for those who suffer silently.

This is a great idea. Most kids including myself hide their feelings and emotions and just act like they are fine until they break. I think this can really help with all kids with mental illnesses with opening up and showing them that someone is always there for them. I love the idea. I may be a senior but I really hope it becomes a club for the future incoming kids.

Being a rapid cycling bipolar, manic depressive and a person who has to live with PTSD for the rest of my life, this is more necessary than any club we have at WASHS. Mental illness is more important than getting good grades. If you can control and cope with your illness, you can achieve more academically. Reach out before it's too late.

I suffered with depression in high school and no one understood; I had no one to talk to and considered taking my life more than once. I am so glad I didn't but these kids need help. School is a tough time for kids and probably worse now than I was a teen.

I've suffered for many years with depression, anxiety & bi polar. Kudos for bringing this to light that this is an illness that can be treated & not to ashamed of!

Mental health treatment is very important, and needs to be treated as such straight from the gate. Let's not ignore the situation until it becomes too late- any support these students can get would be a great preventative measure!

As a person dealing with mental health issues I know this will be great for those who are still in public school.
