Members of the Washington School community have expressed concerns about the intersection of John St. and Whittlesey Ave, a major route for many Washington families. Cars often roll through the stop signs or don't look out for pedestrians. There have been some stories shared of close calls. This intersection formerly had a crossing guard and we strongly feel that the position needs to be reinstated. Please consider putting a crossing guard at John St. and Whittlesey Ave!

Seeing so many people pop up in the notifications today is honestly surreal because I honestly thought it would just be me and a few neighbors shouting into the void about these scary cars. It feels like the neighborhood is finally waking up to the danger at that corner and that momentum is exactly what we need to actually get someone in that high-vis vest.

The drivers definitely do not respect the stop sign and on occasions I have had to see how they pushed cars at us and parked at the entrance even where the children enter, they do not block the way or stop for them to cross. It is time to worry more about the children, thank you .
We need it urgently. The other day a car almost hit my daughter because it wouldn't stop at the stop sign.
They need a crossing gaurd here. I've seen cars and BUSES not even stop to let kids cross.
It is a dangerous snd confusing intersection, what is more important than the safety of our town's children?
No idea what the rationale was to remove the crossing guard but hopefully the superintendent can advocate to the WOPD on behalf of the children. Safety should always the first concern.
We need someone for the children when they enter and leave school because there are many cars that do not stop and we need speed bumps to be put up on Wastosn Ave because there are many cars that use it as a lane for shopping and also on Whittlesey we need speed bumps. Please do everything possible to put a stop to it and put up speed bumps before a tragedy happens.

Yo cruzo cada mañana en la witttlesey Ave. Y los conductores no tienen respeto a los niños y se paran en el paso zebra y dan retro sin mirar y se dan vuelta en U sin respetar el pare
