As you may know, Walker 3rd grade has been confirmed to have only 2 classes next year of 26 and 27 students. Current research shows that class size DOES MATTER! Please take a moment to sign this petition to let the board know that we think this class size is unacceptable for D181!
The board members are ignoring our emails so we need to increase the pressure. Send this link to your neighbors and call the district office to demand a third classroom.

Class sizes of 26 and 27 for our third graders are just too high, especially when you look at the numbers for other elementary schools in our district. We need another class added for the sake of the children (and teachers!)

These class sizes are too large and will not allow the excellent teachers we have to teach our children to the best of their abilities. Please reconsider and make three sections of 3rd Grade at Walker School.

The incoming Walker 3rd graders should remain in 3 class sections, just as they did in 1st and 2nd grade. I'm disappointed to learn from an incoming family that the school is planning on only 2 sections without any communication or transparency to current Walker families.

As a former teacher and administrator I witnessed everyday what large class sizes did to the students' education.

Maintaining smaller class sizes has been a real selling point for our district and has personally had a positive impact on my own children thus far. Going to 3 classes will provide a better educational experience for these 3rd graders.

Not only should the 3rd grade have three sections, but the third section should not come at the expense of the 1st graders who are also borderline on 2 to 3 sections.
Classes sizes of 26 or 27 third grade students is unacceptable for our children at Walker School. Please add another third grade class to allow the best learning opportunities for our children.
