Starting next school year, and moving forward, Washington Elementary will have all grades (except grade 3 for the 2017-2018 school year) down to 3 classes each. This means an average of 26-28 children per class.

With class sizes so large the learning environment is sure to change, not to mention, some of our amazing teachers will be forced to leave. Another way to look at this is from a taxpayer point of view........other elementary schools are overflowing, but because they do not want to be re-districted to WES, our school will have 8 empty classrooms next year.

Please, we ask you to take a moment to sign this so we can take it to the school board in hopes of opposing this change. Also, please pass it on, post it in Facebook, whatever it takes to get it out there.

I have been reading through all your comments and I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about our students and teachers. I am currently gathering these stories to prepare for our presentation to the board because your experiences are the real reason this movement has gained such momentum.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum behind this issue. It is truly your belief in these students and teachers that has carried this project so much further than I ever imagined it would go.

This really worries me for my daughter just entering kindergarten next year. The smaller the classroom the more one on one children get and need. It's so critical for them to build their learning and social skills. How will teachers be able to keep track of getting to really know each child if they have so many.

Seems to make more sense to use the infrastructure already in place and redistrict so that classes are not overburdened. The school will still be open so we should maximize its usage.

With the CORE curriculum requiring so much interaction, I'm surprised this is occurring. Please reconsider this change in classroom size.

My grandchildren go to WES and I am standing up for keeping the present Teacher/Student ratio. Cut down and consolidate the high paid administrative staff instead. Sincerely, Teresa Pickar

26-28 is way too large, why is the school district not interested in utilizing the space in each building efficiently? Seems senseless to have classrooms overflowing in other buildings and vacant ones at WES.

WES has awesome teachers and great classroom sizes. This should not change due to other schools not wanting to move Thier children, which would not effect their quality of education only their social circles and travel time. This effects my daughter's quality of learning...

Smaller classes are the best. Just because every classroom isn't packed to the max, like every otdoesn't mean you have to cut good teachers and shove more children into a room. Its unbelievable what the school board would do to "save" money!

Studies have shown that large classes are not conducive to learning. Smaller classes are beneficial to all students. They are more intimate and teachers are able to address issues of the children in a more personal basis. This is very important especially in the young developing and informative years. Please reconsider- this would be a huge mistake and you will be taking a step backward. If it's not broke - don't fix it!!!
