I think it would be reasonable to have a path cleared off of the side of the road for walkers, if a sidewalk is not feasible.

My niece and nephew live on this road and so does their grandfather. They have to walk on the side of the road (which has no shoulder) to get to their grandfathers house and back home. The traffic on this road is very busy throughout the day especially after school when they go to their grandfathers. Vehicles often speed on this road to increasing the danger to pedestrians.

Seriously think about the safety of these children.

This stretch of road and Round Prairie road are completely unsafe for pedestrian or bicycle traffic! The signs to “share the road”mean nothing to vehicles that quite often are exceeding the speed limits. It is extremely concerning seeing the children that have to walk to school everyday on roads thats have no shoulders because they have been scraped to slope away from the road for snow removal. I would like to challenge the mayor & counsellors to make this trek with their children and then judge whether it’s safe or not.

Such a wonderful place for a bike path!

Wish more people would speak up. This is long overdue and will only get worse if nothing is done.

This is very imperative! There are many blind corners and undulating hills on this road.

Walking or biking path would be great.

It is totally unsafe to walk, bike or ride a horse down that road.

Also like to see a path put in on Schubert Road.

I strongly support this petition. Salmon River road has become very dangerous, and especially for children being dropped off by school buses.

Part of the reason we didn’t consider living out on salmon River road was this lack of path, it’s immediately noticeably dangerous for families to navigate the area. Some kind of path would be hugely helpful for this area

I’ve lived in this road for 18 years and it’s way too dangerous to walk down now a days unfortunately. We drive my daughter to school because she can’t walk 3/4 of a Km down the road to her bus stop as it’s way too unsafe with the fast truckers and speeders. Please help!

The shoulder is almost non existent and the road narrow with a 70km hour speed limit. Dangerous to walk, bike or scooter as there is not enough room along side vehicles. Very scary, definitely need a pathway

I too love on this road and couldn’t agree more, it’s not safe for pedestrians walking or biking, and the new double yellow no passing lines are broken consistently, people rip past you if you’re walking with kids to the bus. We need something similar to what silver creek has!

Agree we need at least one side with wide shoulder on Salmon River Road for walkers/cyclists. I usually pull baby stroller or wagon into ditch or our dogs when a vehicle approaches from either direction.

I vote for a side walk

This is such a beautiful popular path. Let’s make it safe for all!

We are Raquel’s neighbours and have called 911 more times than we can count because vehicles fly around the corner and land in our field or ditches by our home. We also recognize the need for at least a significantly wider shoulder. Our children travel from farm to farm and have many times said that they have felt unsafe. I also worry about the kids who are being dropped off by the school bus on Salmon River and made to walk back along such a busy road to their house that the bus just passed!!! We also have to drive tractors with wide loads down this road. When we are stuck behind a cyclists or a pedestrian we slow the whole road down. It is definitely time the Spallumcheen council takes a good look at this problem.
