Please help us in holding him accountable! Richard Martin, 45, of Newbury, VT, caught his neighbor's dog "Kane" in an illegally set snare trap. He then shot the dog and killed it. VT Fish & Wildlife officials say Martin has been cited for trapping violations in the past. Martin is scheduled to appear in Orange Co. Court in Chelsea, VT, on 3/19/14, for 1 count misdemeanor animal cruelty and 4 counts illegal trapping. We want Richard Martin to receive the maximum penalty provided by law on EACH COUNT. Heartbroken for the family. People like this shouldn't be allowed to own traps or guns if they act with such total disregard for life. Lock him up.

He should be facing Felony Animal Cruelty and especially for the fact that he was trapping illegally!

Traps are always indiscriminate and cause so much suffering and needless deaths of cats, dogs, protected and endangered species. Let's set the proper precedent with Mr Martin and show the community that this will be taken seriously and assigned the maximum penalty..
