The purpose of this measure is to make all appointed public officials subject to the same power of recall as the public elected officials who appointed them. Currently, in Washington State, any publicly elected official is subject to recall and/or discharge by the legal voters of the state or by the political subdivision of the state from which they were elected.
But, presently, this power to recall does not include appointed officials (for example: An Executive Director of a transit authority.) Therefore, this measure shall make all appointed public officials subject to the same power of recall as elected officials.
