Social Workers have spoken: we’re voting yes on 2!

As social workers, expanding Medicaid (Mainecare) will provide more treatment options and more ways for us to assist the people we serve. It will save lives, support families and strengthen our state. Part of our profession is advocating for a more just society; social workers recognize that question 2 provides the single most important step towards universal coverage for health care Maine has seen in decades.

I will vote yes on 2 on November 7th!.

I have spent the week drafting formal briefings for the state health committee to ensure they understand the clinical necessity of Question 2. Multiple news outlets reached out for comment this morning and I am currently coordinating interviews to clarify our professional stance on expansion.

The scale of this support demonstrates clear public demand for the expansion of MaineCare. I have begun formal outreach to key legislative offices to ensure this mandate is placed on the agenda immediately.

Bottom line, folks need medical insurance! Many of the elders we care for in our facility utilize MaineCare for there stay. Without it they will be discharged to the street. Is that what our society wants?

We need to have more people on health insurance/Mainecare as it improves the health of Maine citizens. By providing more people with healthcare, we reduce the expense of emergency and acute hospital care

As a public school social worker in Waldo County I see too many people going without due to lack of resources. This is wrong. Health insurance for the poor and underprivileged needs to be boosted without a doubt. Expanding MaineCare is a good responsible, humane way to go.

As a social worker, I see the impact non-expansion has on our community and our citizens. It is time to expand Medicaid and strengthen our communities and increase the overall health and well-being of our people.

I have been a social worker in Portland for 22 years. I have seen hard working people lose health insurance and become a burden to their already burdened families as a result. Low-income Mainers already work hard. Let’s show them we care by supporting the health care they desperately need.

I support the expansion of Mainecare in Maine so that working families and the nonworking families can have healthcare. I believe healthcare is a right and not a benefit.

Many people lost their benefits earlier this year when Maine Care made changes. These are people who desperately need support and now they don't get this support. Their benefits must be reinstated
