Clinical supervision provides medical social workers an opportunity for professional development and day-to-day support in the mentally demanding work we do. In our current organization (stats based on a survey conducted earlier this year):

Whites made up 37.6% of total respondents, but represented 48.9% of those who are licensed (LCSWs). 20.0% are Asian, and 14.4% are Black.

Even though Hispanics represented 21.7% of survey respondents, they represented only 13.3% of those who are LCSWs and 41.3% of those wanting clinical supervision but are not receiving any at this time.

Even though LCSW Asians, Blacks, and Hispanics were more likely to become licensed while working at our current organization, Whites were respectively 1.58, 1.90, and 2.37 times more likely to become licensed compared to their counterparts.

By signing this petition, we support having clinical supervision be made available to all medical social workers and addressing this racial disparity in attaining clinical supervision.

Not providing clinical supervision is a poor policy for all involved, from workers to patients, and shareholders. The orgainzation is effectively giving the social workers ZERO chance to advance professionally in their field. This has an impact not only on career, but motivation and culture.

Yes! I'm in agreement w/the need for clinical Supervision, especially when working in a hospital setting as I do. Further! To have to pay $100 per hr for Supervision that should be "FREE" is insulting and infuriating.

It has been a disappointment to know that this organization does not support career advancement and that clinical supervision is not provided to MSW's even when it has been promised and managers have required employees to apply for an ASW prior to employment.

I feel very fortunate that I was able to get supervision here when I began 11 years ago and I have been shocked and frustrated that my newer colleagues have been met with barriers here. It should be a given.

I was never offered Clinical Supervision at work. Whenever I asked for supervision, I was always turned down when other colleagues were able to receive it. I had to pay out of pocket and go outside of work hours.

I was promised clinical supervision before joining this organization. Took a full time position, leaving another organization that was willing to provide me hours. Left other job trusting this organization would support my goals in coming an LCSW. Going on 4 years waiting to get my licensing hours started.
