It was recently announced that Cable and Wireless the parent company of LIME, was acquiring Columbus Communications the parent company of FLOW.

Such an acquisition will result in:

1. Loss of many jobs

2. Much less telecom choice for the people of the Caribbean

3. A return to the old days when Cable and Wireless dominated the Caribbean's telecom landscape

4. Cable and Wireless/ LIME having less competition (and in some cases no competition) in the telecom sector

5. With little to no competition Cable and Wireless will not be forced to offer competitive pricing

We hope to get 100,000 signatures who voted NO to this acquisition. We will then forward these signatures to the heads of government here in the Caribbean. Our message to OUR Caribbean leaders will be simple: DO WHATEVER IS LEGALLY NECESSARY TO STOP LIME'S TAKEOVER OF FLOW.

Updates

November 7, 2014

I have been hearing from so many of you who remember exactly how it felt when there was no competition in our region. Our leaders need to understand that we are not going to sit back and watch our telecom independence vanish.

November 7, 2014

Seeing this kind of energy proves that people across the region refuse to return to the days of a telecom monopoly. This momentum shows that our concerns about job losses and fair pricing are shared by thousands who care about the future of Caribbean connectivity.

This would be a reversion back to a monopoly that demonstrated poor customer service, predatory charges, and poor employment practices. Keep Barbados moving forward in the right direction.

I am really disappointed, as I was fed up with Lime's service. i was really enjoying Flow for just over a year.

I had to leave lime just over two years ago because of a five month problem with my phone service. Technicians kept insisting there was no problem, I had no phne service and customer service said keep paying till it's resolved.

Persons would have gone with FLow/ Columbus because they want change and to get rid of the monopoly that LIME would have had on the Landline network. TO allow this acquisition would be unjust and very unfortunate as the only beneficiary would be LIME.
