I honestly am still shaking a bit because they actually scrapped the Section 2.2.7 proposal so the zoning rules stay exactly where we wanted them. It is wild that all 363 of us managed to stop this layer of nonsense from sticking to our properties but we did it and …
We, the undersigned, have grave concerns over the regulations being proposed for infill development for the City of Raleigh. We are interested in preserving the beauty and diversity of Raleigh housing without applying burdensome and restrictive language that will stifle creativity and innovation as housing stock ages and new generations of Raleigh citizens move into the City.
While we appreciate the efforts that staff has made to relax the originally proposed language, we request that the City NOT enact the infill standards as proposed in Section 2.2.7 of the Uniform Development Ordinance. There are already regulations based on zoning. There are already regulations if an area is part of a Historic Overlay District. There is already a better way for neighborhoods to come together to pass neighborhood specific rules by passing a Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District. Is it truly necessary to create yet another layer of regulation for “Infill” development that will apply throughout the City?
It is our belief that the rights of property owners should be protected by allowing them to build what is allowed on their property per the current zoning rules. To further restrict that takes away from the value of their property. Please don’t enact regulations that devalue the property of your hard working citizens.
I just checked the tally and we are creeping up toward that first hundred mark because the city really needs to see that we are paying attention to these zoning changes. If you could just send the link to a couple of neighbors so we can tip over that number tonight it would really help show them that we are not going to just roll over on this.

PLEASE listen to the homeowners. we pay the taxes and we should be able to update our properties without city hall getting in the way every single time.

Raleigh is changing too fast as it is. We dont need more rules making it impossible to renovate older homes.
