This is a defective car. No one should buy this make and model. Ever!

Reading some of the 200+ comments makes me wonder if a class action lawsuit against Volkswagen would get them to pay attention to this issue with the Tiguan.

Bought a used but mint condition 2013 Tiguan only 84,000 miles as my daughter's first vehicle just over a year ago, and now looking at a $3000 repair bill to have it fixed. The mechanics, at each of the 3 shops I visited to get repair estimates, all said that this is so common with these vehicles that It's a running joke. I am furious that volkswagen can get away with ignoring this issue.

I have a Tiguan 2017. 30000 mileage. Bought 2 years ago from our local Montpelier Vt dealer it has changed named several times. It is now known as Autosavers Group Capitol City Imports I brought my Tiduan in because the engine light would not shut off They reported that the Waste Gate on the Tubo was not working or frozen. They quoted me 3,000.00$ After asking local mechanical business and said they have many similar Tiguan Turbo Waste Gate repairs. Turns out the shops could buy and replace the turbo and Waste Gate but did not have the specific VW tools I called the VW dealership and made me an offer or 1,200$ for labor. I am starting to wonder how many people who have Tiguan have similar situations Sign me on to the petition Thanks

I'm a little discussed to find this many people with the same issue. Totally engineering and workmanship issue.

I have a 2012 VW Tiguan and the code P0299 keeps coming on. Looks like a lot of people are having this problem. My mechanic also says it needs a new turbo. I have had VW's for the past 20 years, but might be done with them now. it seems like these cars are truly lemons! Very unhappy customer!

Total BS. 62K miles and needs a new turbo @$3,500!!! Ridiculous particularly because its just out of warranty and VW has nothing to say??? It's not like the car is driven by a maniac. Just to and from work at very low speeds. After 12 VW's under my belt over the last 20 years this leaves me with a very bad taste and will reconsider future purchases not to mention my unending negative word of mouth.

2013 Tiguan engine just QUIT on highway..thought the engine blew. Replaced with a 2012 Tiguan and SAME issues. TURBO needs replaced on THIS car and now I know that is what happened with my 2013 Tiguan. Warranty only covers $2500 of a $6000 repair. Diverter Valve was just replaced in Jan 2022. I think these cars are lemons.

2014 Tiguan. Had a turbo replaced at around 40k under warranty. Now at 80k I need another one replaced. This has been completely devastating for me. I know they know about what wastegate problem.

I have a 2011 VW Tiguan. I have the very same issue. Already spent $1,200 to attempt to fix this, and the check engine light has come back on.
