75,000 km and the turbo linkage has seized. This is a known problem and should be the subject of a recall.

2012 with 70k exact same issue as others are reporting. Wastegate of turbo charger is stuck open-will eventually fail. $4200.00 repair. Talked to VW North America. Vehicle past warranty, nothing they are willing to help with. Very disappointing and frustrating. Service Consultant at VW dealership confirmed he sees this issue at a alarmingly high rate for both new and older cars.

Bought a 2017 Tiguan Wolfsburg edition NEW from dealership and had all recommended maintenance performed at dealership. Turbo died at <56K miles. Quoted almost $5K for repairs. Plan to take the car behind the barn and shoot it.

Turbo went out at 80K miles. Very disapointed in original IHI design. Went to Borg Warner with new wastegate design.

2012 Tiguan with 70k on it, just got a check engine for PO299 and need new turbo charger. I thought VW was supposed to be well built.

If they’re not going to take responsibility for the failed, Wast gate lever they should at least take care of the cost to put on the secondary latch to secure it and keep it from wearing out from mechanical use

Same issue. 2013 Tiguan, only 33000 km. Seriously?

Same story. I have a 2013 Tiguan with less than 50k miles and was just told that the check engine light was showing the Turbo needed to be repaired.

just bought this 2012 Tiguan used. Have had it a month. Engine light came on , loss of deceleration, VW is quoting me $5500 to replace turbo charger. I see that this is an on going safety issue with the VW and Audi. It should be a recall!!

Who would be interested in starting a class action lawsuit for these newer year models? I'm serious. Email me if interested ([email protected]). There was already a lawsuit for the older models but I believe it was dropped bc VW paid repairs. We need to do this.
