I bought a 09 Tiguan from a used car dealership just 35 days ago. It went back for bad censors twice. It only had 82,000 miles, was clean car fax with regular maintenance. Was told by lot owner that it was a very good, dependable car. Left for a 1000 mile trip home, and 500 miles into the trip it starts. Loosing oil, get it to a mechanic and turbo is gone. Wasn't told there could be an issue and am Very Disappointed! I'm on a fixed income, saved to get a decent, dependable car only to have something so expensive to go out

The Check Engine Light has engaged and been diagnosed with the dreaded DTC P0299 on my 2014 VW Tiguan at just under 78k miles.

My 2015 Tiguan has 65K on it and my engine light came on. Same issue. $3300 to fix it at the dealer I bought it from. I have always had the dealer do the servicing. All regular servicing has been completed. The warranty just ended in May of this year. Very unhappy that my lightly used, well maintained car has a major repair issue already.

2016 Tiguan, about 50k, engine light is on. The p0299 code is set. My daughter is a cautious driver who does not push the engine hard. Factory must take responsibility for addressing this flaw otherwise her many friends will be advised to purchase other vehicles. She loves the car but $3k to address such issue is not fair, nor affordable for her.
