Bought used, July 2021; 135,xxx miles; less than 2000 miles later, (same) P0299 code; replaced cam sensor; mechanic went to replace oil pump; found "metal debris in the oil pick up tube, & a bolt that is rolling around". Now recommends replacement of both turbo & engine, but it may exceed the value of the vehicle, so "limited warranty" may not cover it.

I've had to have the turbo waste gate issue repaired twice and I haven't hit 100,000 miles yet. It's expensive!

I have a 2011 VW Tiguan with same P0299 code. I replaced the Turbocharger diverter valve and the Check Engine Light still won't go away. Also, the same code keeps showing on a code scanner.
