Purchased a 2016 vw tiguon with 69k miles from my local vw dealer on 11/30/24. 7-10 days later check engine light comes on. Vehicle purchase came with 60 day full warranty. Bring it back to dealer and they determine the turbo needs to be replaced . The work was completed and vehicle picked up mid December 2024. Less than 5 months later check engine light on again do we return to dealer who says that they had installed a rebuilt turbo and that has now failed .
Dealer acknowledged that their repairs are backed with 12 months later/ 12,000 miles however , they want to credit us for the repair cost. This tells me they just want us to go away . I bought 2 vw cars from this dealer within 1.5 yrs.
This does not make sense to me .., how can they ‘credit’ us for this repair as we did not directly pay for it. The car was under warranty and then the repair should be included under the VW repair warranty. We assumed that the dealer would install a turbo that was not rebuilt and therefore would not have us returning in such a short time .
This is not customer service .

This happened to my 2021 VW Tiguan with about 57k miles on it. Both mechanic and VW dealership confirmed that the engine needed a new turbo. Rediculous!
