The global sail cruising community petitions the King, Prime Minister and Government of the Kingdom of Tonga on behalf of the residents and business operators of the Vava'U group of islands. We feel that the current lack of a consistent and plentiful supply of fuel for road and sea transport risks causing severe and lasting damage to the economy and living standards of its resident population. It is disrupting the current peak season for tourism and will have a lasting effect on the popularity of this area of Tonga, in addition to its impact on the daily life of widely distributed population.
Can't imagine how difficult it would be to run a fuel dependant business with a shortage of fuel. Could also understand why it might discourage yachts and vessels from visiting which would be a big loss to the local economy.
