There are many vacant and blighted properties in our Blue Bell Hill Community, including 750 Hermit Lane. These homes are a safety issue for the neighborhood, as well as an eyesore. 750 Hermit Lane has been in visual disrepair for many years and it is now vacant. Since becoming vacant it has been broken into numerous times. This property is dangerous, hazardous, and highly concerning to those who live in our Community. This property also consists of an abandoned swimming pool at the corner of Hermit Ln and Bridget St. The swimming pool has been abandoned for many years. The pools fencing is in disrepair and unsafe. The pool itself is filled with fallen trees and vines, as well as an eyesore. The Blue Bell Hill Civic Association through this petition calls on Councilman Jones and the City Planning Commission to ensure that 750 Hermit Lane is rehabilitated and restored to use in a manner that is consistent with our Community and mindful of the impact on the adjacent Wissahickon Park land. Please support the Blue Bell Hill Civic Association's efforts to address vacant and blighted properties in Blue Bell Hill by signing this petition.

Updates

April 27, 2016

The situation at Hermit Lane remains just as dangerous as when I first started this. I have been spending my evenings leaving messages for the council office and waiting for any real response about the state of that property. It is exhausting work but the risk to our neighborhood is too high to let this fade away.

There is a fallen tree being precariously held up by the electrical main going to this house.

that pool is a mosquito breeding ground and a serious danger to all the kids playing nearby. something needs to be done about this property before someone gets seriously hurt.

The neglect of this home and grounds is a serious problem for our community where people are working so hard to keep our neighborhood safe and well maintained.

I'm asking the current owner to become a responsible neighbor and rehab this home.

My home is in the next to the subject property. Neglect of the lot and the building are a detriment to our climate.
