The resolution passed and classrooms everywhere will now display our flag with the respect it deserves. Seeing this flag reminds me of the heavy price my own brother paid for our country and I am overwhelmed that this is finally the law of the land. Thank you for helping me …
We, the undersigned, hereby request the United States Congress pass House Resolution 271 (HRES 271) introduced on June 12th in the United States House of Representatives pertaining to the presence of an American Flag in all classroom and education facilities which receive Federal monies or grants.
WHEREAS, the American Flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty.
WHEREAS, many have paid the price of loss of life and limb to preserve that freedom and to defend those rights and ensure the continued freedoms under the United States Constitution.
WHEREAS, not all schools and classrooms which receive public monies display the American Flag in those facilities and classrooms or participate in suitable patriotic exercises which do not infringe upon any individual rights but only reaffirm committment to and pride in the American Way of Life.
We, therefore, support and request that Federal and State funded institutions of lower and higher education must have a presence of the American Flag in their classrooms and other facilities inclusive of the following: Head Start classrooms; facilities of Early Childhood Development providing family services that educate and assist parents in social matters and mothers during pregnancy; State Preschool facilities; Public preschools and K-12 schools receiving Federal or State funding or grants; Private preschools and K-12 receiving Federal or State funding/grants; Public/State and PRivate colleges/Universities receiving Federal or State funding/grants including preschool classrooms they own/operate or allow to operate on and off their sites.
This petition will be sent to the United States Congress to show the patriotism of the American People; focusing on the importance of providing appropriate education to our youth that supports the ideals of democracy and respect for our freedoms while recognizing an individual\'s right to choose active participation.
Seeing 250 names on this petition brings back memories of the service members in my own family who fought for that flag. This milestone shows me that so many others share this deep respect for what our country represents.

Seeing one hundred people put their names behind this really hits home for me because of my father who served. I never expected this much support when I started this journey to honor the flag that he fought so hard to protect.

My grandfather died for that flag. Why is this even a question? Put it in every room now.

Every single classroom should fly the flag. It is the bare minimum for our kids to learn respect for the country.
