To the USD 305 Board of Education and Superintendent Winter: As the board considers the proposal to adjust the district boundaries, we the undersigned parents hereby petition you to respect our following concerns. THAT: WHEREAS we understand the need to change the district’s boundaries to adapt to changing population densities within Salina; and WHEREAS we value the steps already outlined to protect students currently invested in their current schools from having to sever their relationships and partnerships with education professionals; and WHEREAS we also value family integrity and sibling unity as a fundamental priority; and WHEREAS we wish to preserve the partnerships with school professionals that parents have built up over the years through their investments of time and effort; and WHEREAS we desire all siblings to enjoy the benefits of these long-developed personal partnerships; THEREFORE, we the undersigned do hereby petition the board and superintendent of USD 305 not to approve any proposal that does not explicitly protect families’ integrity and siblings’ unity by allowing siblings the option to enroll at the same attendance centers as their currently enrolled older siblings.
